What about scheduling in the Instagram app?
- Instagram's app can schedule reels, photos and carousel posts
- Up to 30 days ahead and up to 25 scheduled posts a day
- Product tagging, collaborative posts, sponsored posts and fundraisers can't be used with scheduled content
Sources: source. A scheduler that publishes through Meta's API adds Stories, first comments, collaborators, a calendar and, on SuperProfile, an Auto-DM on the post.
When is each one the better choice?
- Later or Buffer: you post to many social networks from one calendar, or your team needs approvals and shared workspaces.
- Meta Business Suite: you want Meta's own free tool for Instagram and Facebook together.
- SuperProfile: you sell courses, products, calls or a paid community from Instagram and want the post, the comment-to-DM and the checkout in one place, or want an AI assistant to schedule for you.
How do I pick a time to post?
Meta publishes no single best time to post. Instagram Insights shows when your own followers are most active: open Insights, tap Total followers, and look at the most active times (shown once you have at least 100 followers) source. Schedule for those hours, then compare reach.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good alternative to Later or Buffer for Instagram?
If you also sell on Instagram, SuperProfile schedules posts, carousels, Reels and Stories and can attach an Auto-DM to the post, so people who comment get your link, course or product in their DMs. If you need many social networks in one tool, Later and Buffer cover more networks.
Can I schedule Instagram posts without any tool?
Yes. Instagram's app can schedule photos, carousels and Reels up to 30 days ahead, with up to 25 scheduled posts a day; collaborative posts and product tags can't be scheduled there.
Which Instagram scheduler can send a DM to people who comment?
SuperProfile can attach an Auto-DM to a post when you schedule it. Meta Business Suite has a separate 'Comment to message' inbox automation for business accounts. We found no comment-to-DM feature documented by Later or Buffer.
Which Instagram schedulers work with Claude or ChatGPT?
SuperProfile and Buffer both document an MCP server. SuperProfile's also covers Auto-DM, the grid preview, insights and the rest of your store.
