Best time to post on LinkedIn in India (IST)
There is no single hour, or even a single best day, that published studies agree on. Buffer's 2026 analysis of 4.8 million posts names Wednesday as the best day (3-8pm weekdays generally, Wednesday 4pm the single strongest slot) and Monday/Tuesday the weakest; Sprout Social's 2026 analysis names Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as the most consistent peak days, late morning to afternoon. The two sources flatly disagree on Tuesday. What they do agree on: Wednesday and Thursday are strong, weekends are the worst. Treat any single number as a starting point to test, not a guarantee. We build SuperProfile; its LinkedIn scheduler (paid plans) is covered near the end.
So what do the studies actually say?
Three sources, read directly:
- Buffer (4.8M posts, 2026): best day Wednesday, closely followed by Thursday and Friday; peak hours 3-8pm on weekdays; Monday and Tuesday see the lowest engagement.
- Sprout Social (2B engagements across 307,000 profiles, 2026): Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday offer the most consistent peak engagement, roughly 11am-5pm; weekends are worst.
- LinkedIn's own marketing blog is a roundup of partner research, not an independent study of its own: it cites Sprinklr's data for a mid-morning (10-11am) and lunchtime (12-1pm) peak on Tuesday to Thursday, and separately cites Buffer's (older) per-day numbers.
Tuesday is the clearest disagreement: Sprout and the Sprinklr figures in LinkedIn's roundup call it a top day, while Buffer's newest data puts it among the weakest. Wednesday and Thursday show up as strong across every source, and every source agrees weekends underperform. Start there, and check your own LinkedIn analytics after a few weeks to see which slot your specific audience responds to.
Does this change for an Indian audience, specifically?
Buffer and Sprout Social both say their numbers are normalised to each account's own local time zone — they are not reporting a fixed US hour that needs converting. What neither reports is the geographic makeup of the accounts behind the data, so it's reasonable to treat the exact hour as a hypothesis for an Indian audience rather than a confirmed number. Google's AI Overview for this query makes a related, more general point: when you schedule in advance, double-check your scheduling tool is actually set to India Standard Time and not a different default — a post scheduled for "4pm" in the wrong time zone goes out at the wrong hour regardless of which study you followed.
Test it with SuperProfile's LinkedIn scheduler
SuperProfile's LinkedIn scheduler lets you set the date, time and time zone for each post to your personal LinkedIn profile. Pick Asia/Kolkata (GMT+05:30) from the time zone list so the time you type in is the time your Indian audience actually sees. Text posts can be scheduled from 2 minutes ahead, photos, multi-image posts and documents from 5 minutes ahead, and video from 15 minutes ahead, up to 90 days out. That makes it straightforward to plan a week of posts across a few candidate slots (say, Wednesday 4pm and Thursday 1pm IST) and compare the results yourself, rather than trust one study's number. Scheduling needs your LinkedIn connection to stay active — it expires after a period and SuperProfile reminds you before that happens, but doesn't renew it automatically, so you reconnect it yourself or a post set for after expiry won't go out.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best time to post on LinkedIn in India?
Sources disagree on the exact hour and even the exact day. Buffer's 2026 data names Wednesday the best day (3-8pm peak); Sprout Social names Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (late morning to afternoon). Wednesday and Thursday are strong across both; test a few slots for your own audience.
Should I schedule in India Standard Time or a different time zone?
If your audience is in India, schedule in IST (Asia/Kolkata) and double-check your scheduling tool is actually set to it before trusting the time you typed in — a post scheduled in the wrong time zone goes out at the wrong hour.
Can I schedule a LinkedIn post in advance for a specific IST time?
Yes. SuperProfile's LinkedIn scheduler lets you set the date, time and time zone when scheduling: from 2 minutes ahead for text, 5 minutes for photos, multi-image posts and documents, or 15 minutes for video, up to 90 days ahead.
