How to sell Canva templates online in India
To sell a Canva template, design an original template, share it as a Canva template link (which gives each buyer their own editable copy), put that link inside a short PDF, and sell the PDF from a checkout page. Canva's licence allows selling original templates, with conditions on Pro content. We build SuperProfile; selling from it is covered at the end.
Can you sell Canva templates?
Yes. Canva's help article Use Canva to design digital and physical products for sale (read 19 October 2026) says its Content Licence Agreement allows using Free and Pro content to design and sell templates, under these conditions:
- Original designs only. You can't sell Canva content on a standalone basis, for example a library element with only a colour change or crop.
- Pro content means template links only. A template that uses Canva Pro content can be sold only as a Canva template link, not as a PDF or other file type, flattened or not.
- Free content and your own photos can be sold as a template link or as a PDF.
- No stock content. You can't use Canva Free or Pro content to make and sell your own clipart or stock files.

How a Canva template sale works
The PDF only carries the link and your how-to-use steps; the design itself stays in Canva. The buyer never gets your original design. The template link opens a fresh copy in their own Canva account, which they edit with their details.
How to sell Canva templates step by step
- Design an original template in Canva: an Instagram post or Reels cover pack, a media kit, a resume, a wedding invite, a planner.
- Check every element: if any Canva Pro content is in it, you can only sell it as a template link.
- In Canva, share the design as a template link, so buyers get their own copy instead of editing yours. Canva's help centre covers the current menu.
- Make a one-page PDF that holds only the template link, a preview image and short how-to-use steps (the design stays in Canva).
- Create a checkout page, set the price and upload the PDF as the file buyers receive.
- Share the link in your bio, in Stories, or send it to people who comment a keyword.
What Canva templates sell well?
- Instagram post, carousel and Reels cover packs for a niche (fitness coaches, astrologers, bakers)
- Media kits and rate cards for creators pitching brands
- Resumes and portfolio templates
- Wedding, birthday and event invitations
- Planners, trackers and worksheets that buyers fill in or print
- Business kits: price lists, menus, YouTube thumbnails
Templates that solve a specific job for a specific person usually beat generic packs. Read more digital product types and examples.

Frequently asked questions
Is it legal to sell Canva templates?
Yes, if the template is your original design. Canva's help centre says its licence allows selling templates made with Free and Pro content, but templates with Pro content can only be sold as Canva template links.
Can I sell Canva templates as a PDF?
A template made only with Canva Free content and your own uploads can be sold as a PDF. With Pro content, Canva allows selling only the template link; a PDF that just carries that link and instructions keeps the design in Canva.
Do buyers need Canva Pro to use my template?
Buyers need a Canva account to open a template link. If the template uses Pro-only elements, buyers on Canva Free may have to pay for those elements or upgrade to export without watermarks; building with Free elements only avoids this. Anyone who has the link can share it onward, so say so on your product page.
Can I resell Canva's own templates?
No. Canva only allows selling original designs; taking a library template or element with minimal changes counts as standalone use.
Where can I sell Canva templates in India?
Anywhere you can sell a PDF: your own checkout page, an online store or a marketplace. A checkout page with UPI keeps the buyer list and payment with you.
