How to sell music online in India
There are two ways to sell music online: put songs on streaming services through a distributor, or sell the audio files yourself. This guide covers the second: beats, loops, sample packs and finished tracks sold from your own page, with UPI checkout.
Should you use a distributor or sell files directly?
They do different jobs. A music distributor (DistroKid and TuneCore are well-known examples) sends your songs to streaming services such as Spotify and JioSaavn, which pay you streaming royalties. Selling files directly means a fan, producer or content creator pays you once and downloads the audio. You can do both: distribute the song, and sell the extras that streaming cannot, such as the instrumental, stems, a loop pack or a beat licence.
- Choose a distributor when the goal is to be heard on streaming services and to earn streaming royalties.
- Sell files directly when the buyer needs the audio itself: beats, loops, one-shots, sample packs, stems, backing tracks, voiceover or sound-effect packs.
- Sell directly when you want the buyer's contact details and a direct relationship with them, instead of an anonymous play count.
What can you sell?
- Beats and instrumentals, with the licence terms spelled out
- Loop packs, one-shots and drum kits
- Stems and multitrack sessions for remixers
- Finished tracks, EPs or albums for fans who want the files
- Backing tracks and karaoke versions
- Sound-effect and voiceover packs for video creators
SuperProfile's product editor lists Digital Products as "Sell images, videos, music, docs, and more", so audio sits alongside the other files you can deliver.
What to put on the page before someone pays
Audio is harder to judge than a PDF, so the page has to do the work of a preview. Show what is inside and what the buyer may do with it before they pay:
- The pack name, the number of files and the formats (for example WAV and MP3), and tempo and key where they matter
- A short preview: the page cover can be an image or a video link (YouTube, Vimeo and similar), so a preview video of the pack can sit at the top
- Cover art that looks like the genre you sell
- The licence in plain words: personal use, commercial use, whether you need credit and whether the buyer may resell the audio
- A short description of who it is for, for example video editors, singers or other producers

How to sell music files from your own page
- Export your audio in the formats buyers expect (WAV for quality, MP3 for convenience) and organise it in folders, with a short licence file and a read-me.
- Create a SuperProfile account (creating one is free; selling in India needs a paid plan, see the pricing page) and complete KYC; no payment gateway account needed, only KYC.
- Create a Digital Product, add the cover, a title and a description with the contents and the licence, and set your price.
- On the upload step, add the files buyers receive after payment, or a link to them for large packs.
- Publish it and put the link in your Instagram bio or YouTube description.
- Buyers pay by UPI, cards or netbanking and receive the files automatically; earnings are paid out to your bank account the next day (T+1).
How big can the audio files be?
The upload step takes unlimited files up to 100MB in total, or you can add a resource link instead of uploading. Check the exported pack's total size before uploading: a large WAV sample pack can pass the limit, so zip it for easier downloads and, if it is still too big, add a link to the files instead. A link depends on wherever it is hosted, so check that it stays available and that you are happy for anyone holding it to download the audio.

Which licence should you give?
State the licence on the page and in a file inside the download. Keep it short and specific: what the buyer may do (stream, publish, use in videos, perform live), what needs credit and what is not allowed (reselling the audio itself as a pack). This guide is not legal advice, so for exclusive rights or a work-for-hire arrangement, have a lawyer draft the terms.
How do you find buyers?
People rarely buy audio from an unknown page, so bring the listener to it. Post a short clip of the beat or loop on Instagram, tell people where to get it and put the link in your bio. If you reply to comments with a link, Auto-DM can send the link when someone comments a keyword. Music online kaise bechein?
Agar aap streaming ke bajaye audio files bechna chahte hain, jaise beats, loops ya sample packs, to apni files WAV ya MP3 mein ready kijiye, ek chhoti licence file add kijiye aur SuperProfile par Digital Product bana kar upload kijiye. Account banana free hai, lekin India mein sell karne ke liye paid plan chahiye (pricing page dekhiye); KYC ke baad UPI, card ya netbanking se payment aati hai aur buyer ko files apne aap mil jaati hai. Badi files ke liye upload ki jagah link bhi add kar sakte hain.
Frequently asked questions
Can I sell music online in India without a distributor?
Yes, if you are selling files rather than streams. A distributor places your songs on streaming services; selling files direct means buyers pay you and receive the audio, such as a beat, loop pack or finished track. On SuperProfile the product editor lists Digital Products as "Sell images, videos, music, docs, and more", and in India you sell through SuperProfile's own checkout (UPI, cards and netbanking) after KYC, without your own payment gateway account.
Do I need a payment gateway account to sell music online?
No. In India you sell through SuperProfile's own checkout (UPI, cards and netbanking) after KYC, without your own payment gateway account.
How big can the audio files be?
The upload step takes unlimited files up to 100MB in total, or you can add a resource link instead of uploading. For a large WAV pack that is over the limit, add a link to the files instead and make sure that link keeps working for buyers.
How do I get paid after someone buys my music?
Earnings are paid out to your bank account the next day (T+1).
Can I sell beats and sample packs, not just songs?
Yes. Beats, loops, one-shots, stems and sample packs are the kind of audio that buyers expect to download and use, so they suit direct file sales better than streaming. Say clearly on the page what the buyer is allowed to do with the audio.
Is it free to start?
Creating an account is free; selling in India needs a paid plan. See the pricing page.
