You get up to 20 menu items (SuperProfile's cap), each with a title of up to 30 characters, and each either opens a link or sends an automated reply: send people to your free guide, your courses or a booking page, or answer a common question. At most one automated reply per fan in 24 hours. ## Things to know - Tapping the same persistent-menu item or ice breaker again within 60 seconds does not send a second reply, and a fan gets at most one automated Story mention reply in a rolling 24 hours. - A menu tap, ice-breaker tap or Story mention is not answered instantly: it goes through the same queue as your other Auto-DM replies, which can run a few minutes behind at busy times. - Instagram only, not Facebook Messenger. - The persistent menu, ice breakers and Story mention auto-reply are included in every paid SuperProfile plan; a free plan sees an upgrade prompt instead. - Meta's messaging rules apply to every automated message. ## How do I set them up? 1. Open [Auto-DM](https://superprofile.bio/auto-dm) in SuperProfile with your Instagram professional account connected. 2. Go to the Must-haves tab and open Persistent DM menu, Ice breakers or Story mention. 3. Add your menu items or questions, or write the Story mention reply and pick the delay. 4. Turn it on. For the menu and ice breakers this publishes them to your Instagram account; turning them off removes them and keeps your saved setup. ## Run it from an AI assistant An AI assistant connected through the SuperProfile MCP server can read the status of the persistent menu, ice breakers and Story mention auto-reply (get_instagram_dm_features) and save their content or turn them on or off (set_instagram_dm_feature) once you approve the wording; saving needs the publish permission, because turning one on publishes it to Instagram, and editing one that is already on submits the change to Instagram (existing chats may need an inbox refresh).
