# Grow followers with a follow request in the DM

Turn comments into followers: the DM asks people to follow you before it sends the link they asked for.

## How it works
- **Trigger:** A keyword comment on a Reel or post
- **The DM:** Ask people to follow you before the DM with the link is sent
- **Then:** The link arrives after they follow and tap to continue
The DM opens with a message and a button; after the person taps it, SuperProfile checks whether they follow you. If not, it asks them to visit your profile and tap I'm following, and the link comes after that.

Sample data. The DM asks people to follow you, with a button to visit your profile and one to confirm, before the link arrives.

## How do I set it up?

1. Create a comment automation on your Reel or post.
2. Turn on the follow request step.
3. Write the message people see before and after following.
4. Add the link or product as the final message.
5. Publish.

## Can an AI assistant set this up?
Yes. Connect the [SuperProfile MCP server](https://superprofile.bio/mcp) to Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant and ask: “Make my GUIDE automation ask people to follow me before it sends the link.” A new automation starts as a draft you review before it goes live. ## Things to know
Meta's messaging windows and rules apply to all messages; follow-ups run within 23 hours of the person's message, inside Meta's messaging window. Auto-DM on Stories and Lives, ask-to-follow, email collection and follow-ups need a paid plan; see [superprofile.bio](https://superprofile.bio/) for plans.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the follow request required?
No. It is an optional step you can switch on per automation.
